Laboratory Technician – Compliance and Certification

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Design and Laboratory Coordinator, the Laboratory Technician actively contributes to ensuring that iGuzzini / Sistemalux lighting products comply with current standards. They participate in certification and performance testing, monitor laboratory tests, compile results, and support the continuous improvement of products.

Main Responsibilitie

  • Conduct certification and performance tests on products in accordance with standards (UL, CSA, ETL, etc.);

  • Prepare, install, and configure the necessary equipment and components for testing (test benches, measuring instruments, etc.);

  • Compile, analyze, and document test results in technical reports;

  • Identify and report any anomalies or non-conformities observed during testing;

  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to assess the compliance of new designs and suggest adjustments if needed;

  • Participate in the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment;

  • Assist during certification body inspection visits;

  • Help manage UL certification labels and apply them to compliant products;

  • Support continuous improvement activities and product development testing;

  • Follow current safety standards in the laboratory;

  • Perform any other technical or related tasks in support of departmental projects.

Profile Sought

  • College diploma (DEC) in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Electronics, or a related field;

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or technical laboratory environment;

  • Good knowledge of certification standards (UL, CSA, ETL) – a strong asset;

  • Proficiency with electrical and optical measuring instruments (multimeter, wattmeter, lux meter, etc.);

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics;

  • Bilingual (French and English) – spoken and written;

  • Attention to detail, autonomy, analytical skills, and keen observation;

  • Knowledge of the lighting industry.
